Water works

For this module I am working with the manipulation of fabric to make it come alive, have characteristics and movement, looking at water. 

So I went up to Ogden Water with my glam assistant Ben and threw fabric about the place and took some pics :)

It's been a while...

It;s been a while, what with settling back into uni and actually making works...

I've kinda figured out what my work is about, and it's not what i initially thought

I want to make work about movement. The idea of bringing inanimate things to life, giving things such as fabric and paper personalities. And also creating an atmosphere, with lights and sounds.

When thinking about it... it makes sense to me... I love the movement of underwater creatures: octopus, jellyfish, squids, fish in general, and when I began making work I straightaway thought about water.

So... I am making work on water, movement and other things.
Its quite exploratory at the moment, a bit abstract (dare i say it?!) and simple. I tend to over work work, so I am working really hard to make things simple and elegant.

So here's some initial stuff :)

as well as the work with these objects i have to produce a promotion video of all my previous best work... with no more than 15 words... this is a lot to ask of me... the champion rambler in writing 

so I have done some fancy stop motion regarding those 15 words... here's a couple of pictures :)

All done with a fancy rubber stamp set I have recently purchased 

this is my cute little rubber stamp set :)

Looks like I'll be doing a fair bit with type aswell now 

just the apple and the radio now..

just wait and see 

Cheeky Sneaky Peek at the Summer project

So the list of objects to make work about was, Pencil, String, Radio, Apple, Scissors

I am to animate all the above for my project, and was struggling for inspiration.

So I went out one day to an inspirational place with the string and my camera.

And well, you can guess what is to come looking at these photos

as a medium

or just reading them

Here is some of the stuff I have made using books

The top one with the suitcase is to represent the lifeboats of the Titanic, to fit with my end of second year work

&

the bottom two were influenced by Cara Barer's work

Beginning of my degree.

I kept on going with paper at the beginning

And for the collaborative project of an allotment in a day I made some vegetables in my scrunched up paper way

And for another project I worked on I made animals and monsters

Some puppetry sneaked in

and I began filming things

The things I made began having personalities

and telling stories

I guess I have found something which I am passionate about making art about.

This is the stuff from my Pre BA Foundation I did 09-10.

I have a thing for fairy tales, myths, legends, folklore... telling stories. 

My work usually has characters and a narrative.

Books are pretty important in my work too.

So I used books as a medium.

And fairy tales as a subject.

and this is the result.

Lighting created an atmosphere.

I created a fairytale woodland, out of the pages of books.

I loved that project.

Hello there...

I have made a new blog just for the artsy side of me. The artist, maker, animator, drawer... and anything else I sometimes do.

Seeing as though I am going into 3rd year, it's getting real and I'm going to step it up a notch.

So what I do...

Early on I worked with paper, making things with pages from books, making an entire forest scene from  pages.

Then I moved on to animating inanimate objects & making films

All the while still drawing.

The aim and passion is telling stories throughout my work & bringing things to life. 

This blog is going to be bursting of my stuff...
